  • Men don’t need directions (well, we actually don’t)
Characterized along these stereotypes of what defines a Man, also exists the prehistoric idea that….

Men don’t pamper themselves – because Real Men don’t care about how they look!

There has been a pivotal shift in the Male pampering culture during the last decade, which has pushed passed the paradigm that Men only need a good bar of soap, deodorant, and shaving creams, to that of a new male Archetype, especially for bearded Men.

1705 Beard Company is a premium Beard Care company launched in 2018 offering beard care products that target men who are proudly growing and grooming their beards – as to assert their confidence, dominance, and sex appeal; while disavowing the ridiculous stereotypes of what defines a real Man.

1705 Beard Company creates premium level products for men to invest into themselves a more natural, sexy and rugged looking male, who is in fact very sensitive, yet not afraid to pamper himself with premium level beard grooming products that promotes that he is Clean. Not Shaven.

our inspiration

why 1705?

Launched in 2018, the 1705 Beard Company has adopted its name from the historical accounting of the Beard Tax of 1705 instituted by a Tsar; Peter of Russia.

Known as Peter the Great, he established the beard tax to discourage bearded men from growing their beards, in order to embrace the Clean Shaven – Western European look. Peter the Great hoped for a fashionably beardless society for his country and military. In 1705, he passed legislation and declared that all men in Russia had to lose their beards or pay a penalty for wearing facial hair. He imposed the Beard Tax of 1705 for those that refused. In order to grow or keep one’s beard, a token was given to verify that they paid the price. Men wore a medallion showcasing that they had paid the Beard Tax or carried the Beard Tax Coin.

On the reverse side of the Coin was inscribed,

the beard is a superfluos burden.

In the spirit of the Beard Tax, we have adopted the 1705 Beard Company’s name, and countered the narrative, “the beard is a superfluous burden”, by offering premium level products for the Beard grooming experience and provide high quality care to their beard growth and maintenance.

Our goal is to encourage men to place more value in their daily beard maintenance routines with our laboratory tested and proven confection of all-natural minerals and ingredients that provide quality beard care products.
